Throughout the year, it’s normal to feel stress in ebbs and flows. In the short term, this can serve us well — a burst of stress hormones can aid us right before giving a presentation or when we need to perform, for example.
But if high levels of stress continue for an extended time, it can take a toll on our bodies and minds. Chronic stress can take the form of headaches, irritability, lack of sleep and worsened mental health. It’s one of the most common reasons we might feel unhappy or out of control on a day-to-day basis.
Life stressors are inevitable, but learning to regulate those ebbs and flows can make a big impact on our wellness. Here’s Shawna Sielert (Licensed Professional Counselor) with how.
