Disorder 🤔
Mind Matters
with Shawna Sielert, LPC
Obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD, is as talked-about as is it misunderstood.
As many as half of all OCD cases are misdiagnosed. It’s clear that there is more to this condition than just the neurotic hand-washing and need for tidiness that we see in popular characters and hear in casual conversation.
In fact, many don’t realize that there are different forms of OCD. Each comes with its own needs for treatment that can be tricky to identify even for clinicians. Understanding our own symptoms is key in advocating for the right care and eliminating false narratives about the disorder.
Shawna Sielert (Licensed Professional Counselor) breaks down OCD.
