May we have your attention, please? Focus on ADHD 🦋

Mind Matters

with Shawna Sielert, LPC

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, has been heavily discussed for the past 20-odd years. Increasing diagnoses have caused alarm in the media, and it’s become a hot topic drawing strong opinions on social media. When you think of ADHD, you might picture a restless little boy who can’t sit still in class.

The truth is, ADHD can look much different than we might expect and it affects girls and boys, kids and adults, very differently. As we’ve gotten to know the diagnosis better, it’s been included on the neurodiversity spectrum, which means that ADHD brains are simply variations on “the norm.” Like with other neurodivergent conditions, once we provide the right support for alternate ways a brain can work, individuals with ADHD can excel in areas like creativity, quick-thinking and problem-solving.

Here’s Lucet’s Shawna Sielert to direct your attention to ADHD.
