Each morning, you might reach for a cup of coffee to start your day or pour a glass of wine to unwind at night. On a weekend, you might order your favorite junk food while online shopping for things you don’t really need.

We all understand that familiar craving for something to relieve stress. Some are perfectly fine ways to “treat ourselves.” Others, with increased dependence, can develop into addictions with harmful effects that prevent us from living a full life.

The good news is, with help, addiction is manageable — the 3 out of 4 people with substance use disorders who eventually recover are proof of that.
